Azerbaijani gymnast Oleg Stepko became a five-time champion of Azerbaijan at the Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics Disciplines in Baku March 6.

Stepko won his fourth gold medal in the uneven bars exercises, by gaining 15.366 points.
Another gymnast of Azerbaijan Petr Pahnyuk with 15.266 points won the fourth silver medal.
Turkish gymnast Ahmet Onder with 14.800 points ranked third in these exercises.

Stepko won the fifth gold medal in the horizontal bar exercises of the tournament. Norwegian gymnast Stian Skjerahaug ranked second, while Romanian gymnast Ion Nistor ranked third.

Moreover, Azerbaijani gymnast Maria Smirnova won the second gold medal in the floor exercises. She scored 12.633 points. Turkish gymnasts Tutya Yilmaz and Demet Mutlu gained 12.566 and 12.300 points respectively.

The Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics Disciplines is being held in Baku on March 4-6. This is the test championship on the eve of the First European Games. Coming from 22 countries, 133 gymnasts compete for medals in both the all-around and individual competitions.

Such well-known gymnasts, as two-time absolute world champion Yana Kudryavtseva (Russia, rhythmic gymnastics), Olympic silver medalist Filip Ude (Croatia), European champion Alexander Shatilov (Israel, both - sports gymnastics) and other athletes have arrived in the capital of Azerbaijan - Baku.

Azerbaijani gymnasts Oleg Stepko and Kristina Pravdina won gold medals in the all-around competition at the Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics in Baku following the first day of the competition. Azerbaijani gymnast Petr Pahnyuk took second place in the same type of competition.

A special feature of these games is the same scheme as that of the first European Games. The Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics will set a precedent in the history of gymnastics and an excellent opportunity for acrobats and aerobics representatives to compete with the rhythmic, artistic and trampoline gymnasts.

European Games-2015 in Baku are the first games in the history of the European continent, to be held in Baku on June 12-28, 2015.
