The operating schedule of the state bodies and non-governmental organizations in Azerbaijan will be changed from May 1 to July 1, the message from Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers said April 1.

The operating schedule of the state bodies and non-governmental organizations in Azerbaijan will be changed from May 1 to July 1, the message from Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers said April 1.

The decision has been made in order to ensure the smooth and safe movement of vehicles, as well as their full use by the workforce and spectators of sports events during the First European Games in Baku, according to the message.

The message said the employees of the state bodies, structures and institutions (except for employees of educational institutions and those on duty) will work on the following schedule: 25 percent of employees - from 08:00 till 17:00 (UTC/GMT +5 hours), 25 percent - from 08:30 till 17:30, 25 percent - from 09:00 till 18:00 and another 25 percent - from 09:30 till 18:30.

Employees of the non-governmental institutions and organizations (except for the employees of educational institutions and those on duty) will work on the following schedule: 50 percent of the employees - from 08:00 till 17:00 and another 50 percent - from 08:30 till 17:30.

Azerbaijan's Ministry of Youth and Sports, Transport Ministry and Baku City Executive Power have been instructed to inform the population about these changes through media from April 1, 2015.

Moreover, the Interior Ministry and Baku City Executive Power have been instructed to carry out education work and inform the population through media in order to prevent illegal parking in Baku.

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
