Azerbaijan's cabinet of ministers decided on May 21 to allocate 15,000 manats to the families of each person killed (15 people) in the residential building fire in Baku, 5,000 manats to all those who suffered wounds and traumas, and initially 20,000 manats to all the 56 families living in that building as one-time financial aid to compensate for the damage inflicted to property by the fire.

Aside from that, three million manats were allocated to begin the major repairs and reconstruction work on the high-rise residential building.

Baku city's executive power was allocated five million manats from the reserve fund of the 2015 state budget to pay the rental fees of the fire-stricken building's residents.

Azerbaijan's Finance Ministry was in turn instructed to ensure the payment of the funds, indicated in this order.

The order comes into force on the day of its signing.

A massive fire erupted May 19 in a multi-story residential building in Baku's Binagadi district that killed 15.

The fire's preliminary version is the facing of the building with poor-quality and combustible materials.

A criminal case was launched by the Investigation Department on Grave Crimes of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office into the fire outbreak in line with the articles 225.2 (violation of fire safety rules), 308.2 (abuse of power) and 314.2 (negligence) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

The law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan detained a suspect in the Baku building fire investigation.

The suspect is the head of the Global Construction, Miryusif Mahmudov, who is accused of using poor-quality materials during the facing of the fire-stricken building.
