Another court session was held August 26 on the criminal case of Khadija Ismayilova.

The session, chaired by Judge Ramella Allahverdiyeva, was held at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.

During the court session, Ismayilova's lawyers first made a motion to resume the judicial investigation.

But the public prosecutor, Ramazan Hadiyev noted that the judicial investigation was conducted properly, and all the charges brought against Ismayilova have been completely proven.

He also stressed that there is no reason to resume the judicial investigation, and asked the court not to grant the motion of Ismayilova's defense.

The motion was not granted.

Afterwards, the defense made a speech asking the court for Ismayilova's acquittal.

In turn, the public prosecutor Ramazan Hadiyev said the lawyers' speech do not reflect reality.

Then, Khadija Ismayilova asked the judge for time to prepare her final speech.

The judge announced a break. The next court session is scheduled for August 31.

Ismayilova was arrested under the article 125 (incitement to suicide) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

Then, new charges were brought against her under the articles 179.3.2 (large-scale misappropriation and embezzlement), 192.2.2 (illegal entrepreneurship), 213.1 (tax evasion) and 308.2 (abuse of official duties) under the Criminal Code.
