Second earthquake hits Azerbaijan

Trend:

An earthquake hit the Oghuz district of Azerbaijan Sept. 4, said the Republican Seismic Survey Center of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.

The quake occurred in the territory of Oghuz, some 27 kilometers south-east from the district of Shaki, at 14:39 local time (UTC/GMT +5 hours).

The earthquake's hypocenter (the point where it originated) was as a depth of 20 kilometers, and had a magnitude of 3.3, however no tremors were felt.

This is the second earthquake in Azerbaijan on Sept. 4. Earlier a strong earthquake hit Shaki at 09:49 in the morning.

Its strength in the epicenter measured seven on Richter scale, while the adjacent districts of Azerbaijan felt tremors measuring 6, 5, 4 and 3 points.

The earthquake's hypocenter was at a depth of 13 kilometers, while its magnitude was 5.9.
