Some 1,054 people were registered as candidates at the upcoming parliamentary election in Azerbaijan, Mazahir Panahov, the chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), said at a meeting Oct. 5.
He said that some 1,823 people appealed to the CEC to participate in the election.
"Some 572 of them were nominated by political parties, 62 - by the Azadlıq-2015 election bloc, 3 - the initiative group, 1,186 - self-nominated candidates. The candidatures of 1,805 people were approved."
The parliamentary election in Azerbaijan will be held on November 1.
