According to the order of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev, dated October 9, 2015, Prof. Ramiz Humbatov, Baku Higher Oil School Vice-Rector for Training, Science and International Relations, was awarded Meritorious Scientist honorary title for his outstanding service in development of science and training of highly qualified specialists.

It should be pointed out that Prof. Humbatov graduated from Azerbaijan Petroleum and Chemistry Institute named after M. Azizbeyov (currently, Azerbaijan State Petroleum and Industry University) in 1967. In 1968-1971, he was involved in post-graduate studies in Moscow, Russia. In 1971-1984 he worked as a junior fellow, senior fellow, head of section and head of department at Baku branch of "VODGEO" All-Union Institute. Between 1984-2012, Prof.Humbatov worked as Associate Professor, Deputy Chair of Department for Science, Professor, Head of Department, and Vice-Rector for Science and Engineering at Azerbaijan Petroleum and Chemistry Institute named after M.Azizbayov.

Since 2012, Prof. Humbatov has been working as the Vice-rector for Training, Science and International Relations of BHOS. He defended his PhD thesis in 1974 and his doctorate thesis in 1994. R. Humbatov was awarded the title of Senior Research Fellow in 1977, became Associate Professor in 1988 and Professor in 2000. In 1977, he became the winner of the prize of Azerbaijani YCL (Young Communist League) in science and technology. He was awarded the USSR's Inventor Medal (1980) and the Medal of "Progress" (2000).
