New project on vocational education to start with Azercell’s support

Throughout 18 years of its operation Azercell Telecom always supported the development of education and capacity building in Azerbaijan. The company continues its activity in this direction.

Thus, Azercell is going to implement new project with British Council in the field of vocational education in ICT and Telecommunication. The vocational education supported by the Ministry of Education is aimed to upgrade knowledge and skills of the students in ICT and Telecommunication and conduct training sessions for teachers at these schools.

The major objective of the project titled "Skills for Business World" is to contribute to the education in the country in line with State Strategy on educational development.

Under the project the students majoring in ICT and Telecommunication at vocational education in Baku are going to attend the training courses in fundamentals of entrepreneurship and business ethics, as well as business skills.

Students successfully completing the training sessions will get an opportunity to have an internship in relevant fields as supported by Azercell.

The project also includes trainings for teachers at vocational schools in training models, skills and strategies, local environment and establishing relations. Teachers successfully completing the training sessions will be able to attend the training of trainers which will contribute to the development of professional trainers in this field.

The training sessions for teachers will be conducted by a professional trainer from Great Britain. Azercell Telecom CEO Vahid Mursaliyev made a speech in the opening ceremony of the project stating that such initiatives provide a great support for the development of Azerbaijani youth as experts in various fields and their future activities.

Some 120 final-year students in ICT and Telecommunications at vocational schools in Baku and 30 teachers working in the same fields at those schools are expected to take part in the project.

We would like to note that Azercell Telecom continuously implements projects aimed for youth development. Under the Student Bursary program of the company, capable youth studying at Azerbaijani universities get a great opportunity to receive special bursary from Azercell and take internship at various divisions of the company.

Besides, many projects conducted by the company are related to education. Azercell cooperates with the leading universities and helps to improve their material and technical bases. With the initiative and support of the company, first 4G laboratory was established at Qafqaz University. Azercell will continue to prioritize supporting the education and the youth in its activities.
