The Azerbaijani-Turkish Cultural Center has sent an appeal to the Free University of Amsterdam in connection with the planned activity of the Armenian lobby.

The Armenian diaspora in the Netherlands plans to hold a workshop entitled "Unrecognized countries: how to solve the problem?" November 7, the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Diaspora told Trend.

The workshop is dedicated to the so-called "Nagorno Karabakh Republic". Armen Sarkissian, the "member" of the separatist regime, will be invited.

In this regard, the Azerbaijani-Turkish Cultural Center sent a letter to the Free University of Amsterdam and informed that the so-called "Nagorno Karabakh Republic" was created as a result of occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia, tens of thousands of people were killed, more than one million Azerbaijanis were expelled from their homes.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
