Azerbaijan is exemplary for the entire world in terms of tolerance and interreligious relations, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, the chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, said.
Pashazade made this statement at a meeting with a delegation of the Jewish community in Los Angeles (California), which is on a visit to Azerbaijan.
Pashazade said that the representatives of different religions in Azerbaijan live in peace and stability.
"The relations between state and religion are at a high level in Azerbaijan," he said. "After Azerbaijan gained independence, the special attention is paid to the religion. The mosques, synagogues and churches were built at the expense of the state funds."
Pashazade said that the visit of representatives of the Jewish community will contribute to the development of relations between the religions.
The head of the delegation David Wolpe appreciated the situation in the religious sphere in Azerbaijan.
He stressed that his community intends to establish closer relations with Azerbaijan.
