Azerbaijani gymnast reaches great success during year

An Azerbaijani gymnast has reached great success during the year, Azer Novruzov, the sports manager of the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation, said at the opening ceremony of the 22nd Baku Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship and Competitions Nov. 13.

"2015 has become extremely significant for us," he said. "First of all, I would like to stress the successful performance of our gymnasts at the first European Games. Moreover, the successful performances of Marina Durunda and Oleg Stepko allowed obtaining a license for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro."

He wished success to the Azerbaijani gymnasts and declared the championship open.

The 22nd Baku Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship and Competitions started Nov. 13 and ended Nov. 14.

The winners in the individual all-around competitions among gymnasts of 8-10 years old, as well as group exercises of the gymnasts of the same age category will be determined on the first day.

The pre-juniors (11-12 years old) plan to perform in the individual program in the first half of the second day of the competition. The winners will be determined following the all-round competitions (exercises without an item, exercises with rope, hoop, ball, clubs).

The competition will end by the performances of juniors (13-15 years old) and seniors (16 years old and older), who will compete in the all-around competitions (rope, hoop, ball, clubs).
