The Baku Court of Appeals reviewed on Dec. 10 the appeal from the former chairman of the International Bank of Azerbaijan, Jahangir Hajiyev, on a decision made by Baku's Narimanov District Court.
Earlier, the Narimanov District Court chose an arrest for four months as a preventive measure against Hajiyev.
Hajiyev, disagreeing with the court's decision, made an appeal.
The legal proceeding at the Court of Appeals, presided by Judge Gadim Babayev, was held Dec. 10 with Jahangir Hajiyev's participation.
Hajiyev's appeal was rejected during the legal proceeding, held behind closed doors.
Jahangir Hajiyev is charged under various articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, including the large scale misappropriation, abuse of office, fraud causing serious damage, embezzlement, abuse of power, and bribery.
