An employee of the Azerbaijani state oil company (SOCAR) has died as a result of an accident happened during work, the company said in a message posted on its website July 27.
According to the message, as a result of imbalance a crane-excavator collapsed into the sea while lifting the piles during the maintenance at the Palchig Pilpilyasi field July 26.
Namig Mammadov, brigadier of SOCAR’s Neftqaztikinti trust, who was in the cabin at that moment, fell into the sea and drowned, the message said.
Mammadov’s body was raised by divers.
"The causes of the accident are being investigated by a special commission," the message said.
