The 23rd Baku Championship in Acrobatic Gymnastics wrapped up on Monday, Nov. 7.

The tournament, held in the auxiliary hall of the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, featured more than 50 gymnasts.

The Baku School of Gymnastics, Ojag Sport and Neftchi clubs, as well as the Sports School of the Nizami District Olympic Reserve #13 were represented in the event.

Women’s pairs (children born 2000-2007), men’s pairs (seniors born 2002 and older), mixed pairs (seniors born 2002 and older, children born in 2000-2007, youngsters born in 2002-2010) and women’s groups (pre-juniors born 1998-2006, children born 2000-2007, youngsters born 2002-2010) competed for the medals.

Two pairs of acrobats took part in the men’s pairs event. Murad Akbarov and Seymur Javadov had the highest score of 80.720 points, followed by Murad Rafiyev and Daniel Abbasov who scored 62.950 after three exercises.

In the women’s pairs event there was only one pair comprised of Nurjan Guluzadeh and Mehriban Salamova, who scored 47.300 after two exercises.

The group comprised of Aytaj Ramazanova, Shams Emenova and Maia Huseynova won the women’s groups event among youngsters born 2002-2010. After two exercises they scored 35.200.

The second place went to the group comprised of Zarniyar Aliyeva, Lamiya Guliyeva and Asiman Alasgarova with 33.450 points.

The third place went to Zahra Bakikhanova, Seljan Rahimli and Melek Ibrahimova, who despite the same score as the holders of the second place, failed on additional indicators.

In the women’s groups event among children born 2000-2007, the first place was claimed by Aylan Babashova, Aida Babashova and Narmin Mirzayeva, who scored 50.200.

In this event the second place was won by Mina Beydiyeva, Samra Asgarzadeh and Jeyla Zakiryayeva, who scored 49.450, while the third place went to Tunzala Dashdemirova, Firangiz Musayeva and Safiya Babayeva with 48.550 points.

Two groups participated in the women’s groups event among pre-juniors born 1998-2006.

The group comprised of Emilia Nazarli, Raziya Sayidli and Laman Mammadova had the best result of 77.150. Leyla Bashirova, Masuma Mammadzadeh and Nazrin Farmanova came in second scoring 75.800.

Rauf Jabbarov and Leyla Mustafayeva won in the mixed pairs event scoring 36.250. The second place was taken by Farhad Sattarov and Nazrin Gasimova with 35.500 points, and the third place was claimed by Azad Hasanov and Maryam Hasanzadeh, who scored 34.700.
