Officers of Azerbaijan’s State Security Service detained five people at the Bilasuvar border checkpoint for attempting to smuggle 2.145 kg gold ingots and other gold items out of Azerbaijan, the Security Service said Dec. 20.
As a result of joint operations by Azerbaijan’s State Security Service, the State Customs Service and the State Border Service, F. Allahverdiyev, F. Mammadov, A. Rahimov, E. Huseynov and E. Seyidov were detained when they attempted to smuggle gold ingots and other gold items out of Azerbaijan having conspired with foreign nationals.
