Azeri athletes picked three medals (gold, silver and bronze) in the international taekwondo tournament in Tehran, Iran.
The Fajr sports event was a certain �check-up’ for the national team in the run up to the upcoming European championship in Riga, Latvia, this autumn.
A medalist of European and world championships and also-ran during the 2004 Athens Olympics, Rashad Ahmadov won in his weight group (72-78 kg), with Elnur Amanov (58 kg) becoming a silver medalist of the Fajr tournament. Meanwhile, the third medal, of bronze value, was received by Tavakkul Bayramov (78-84 kg). Among also-ran athletes were Niyamaddin Pashayev (66-72 kg), the world champion in 2003, Zahid Mammadov (under 54kg), etc.
