As of a new academic year the hours for teaching Islamic values will be increased at secondary schools, the Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Education told Trend.
The school hours for teaching Islamic values at schools make currently about 150 hours, and they are used uncoordinated. The Ministry will prepare the unified school program for teaching religion.
The issue of recruiting the teaching staff is currently under consideration at the Ministry. The Ministry has not ruled out the possibility of including teaching of the Arabian language in the curriculum. Opening the separate center for teaching Arabian is planned shortly in Baku. The leadership of the Islamic organization on education, science and culture, ISESCO, has recently spoken out with such an initiative and is ready to render assistance to the project.
