В"Approximately the 5-century landmark in the history of Azerbaijan is connected with the Arabian caliphate. The Azerbaijani people together with other peoples, being a part of the Arabian caliphate, were one of the creators of the grandiose Arabian culture.

Therefore, the Azerbaijani and the Arabian culture have common roots”, the Milli Mejlis deputy chairwoman, Gevhar Bahshaliyeva said at the meeting with the secretary general of the technical foundation on European and CIS countries of the Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, Ali Djalal Basyuni on 2 July.

According to her, the period of the Azerbaijani people’s rebirth in the 12-th century, emerged at the result of the influence of the Arabian culture.В"Today, speaking of the first poets of Azerbaijan, we imply exactly the Arabian-language writers.

The great Nizami and other our poets wrote and created in the Arabian language. Today we can learn the history of Azerbaijan of the 8-14 centuries thanks to the Arabian sources. Such scientific works of the outstanding Azerbaijani scholar, the Academician Ziya Bunydov, as “Azerbaijan in the 7-8 centuries”, “The State of Atabeks”, were created based on the Arabian sources.

Today at the Azerbaijani National Academy there are remarkable scholars-arabists, but their potential is not used properly”, Bahshaliyeva said. According to her, in this aspect the foundation should make a contribution.

Ali Djalal Basyuni, voicing his admiration from his first visit and noting that he feels himself at home, reported, that in the future his activities would encourage the development of links between Azerbaijan and Egypt. Noting his satisfaction from the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the Foundation’s secretary general noted, that the structure, headed by him, would continue cooperation with Azerbaijan.

Basyuni, noting that the main goal of his visit is identification of cooperation priorities between the Foundation and Azerbaijan, said, that this cooperation would strengthen even more the ties between both countries.
