UNESCO will prepare a report on the educational system in Azerbaijan, the UNESCO Director General Koishiro Matsuura told journalists on 26 August before leaving Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
According to him, the report will be prepared based on the survey he is going to get ready on the results of his visit to Azerbaijan and submit to the organization. The UNESCO Secretary General voiced satisfaction from the results of his visit and meetings held with the
county’s leadership. The major success of the visit he called signing of the Memorandum on Understanding between the organization and Azerbaijan, which will define the further development of bilateral cooperation.
Matsuura was on an official visit in Azerbaijan from 23 September till 26 September 2005. The visit was performed at the invitation of the UNESCO Good Will Ambassador, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva. In the framework of his visit Matsuura held meetings with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the Good Will Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva , took part in the conference ”Azerbaijan-UNESCO: the road in future”, attende the Gobustan state reserve, Isherisheher (the Old City) and the fire-worshippers temple “Ateshgyakh”.
