“The play of the Azerbaijani female national field hockey team at the Trophy Cup competition is the first stage of the struggle for participation at the Olympic Games in Beijing,” Abulfaz Garayev, the Minister of Youth, Sport and Tourism, told Trend.
Garayev noted that great hopes pin on the team taking into consideration the results demonstrated by the collective for last times. The reach the final of the Trophy Cup competitions will give a chance to the hockey-players to struggle for Olympic licenses.
“Hockey is a prospective sport and we hope that the national team will be able to struggle for licenses of the Summer Games-2008,” Garayev added.
Adil Pashayev’s wards have made their way to the semi-final of the Trophy Cup, which is underway in Baku.
