ICRC ANNOUNCES A MOOT-COURT COMPETITION ON IHL

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will hold the second competition on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) for students from the faculties of International Law, Law and International Relations of Azerbaijani universities. The competition will be held on 10-13 November 2005, Baku Office of the ICRC told Trend.

Participating teams will be defined through a competitive selection process on the base of their answers to questions on IHL. Presentations by ICRC and local specialists will be held before the competition in order to allow participants to get a better understanding of the

current problems of IHL. The aim of these presentations is to enhance their understanding of practice and problems of IHL. Moreover, presentations have a methodological purpose: to introduce participants to role-plays, negotiating and teamwork.

The ICRC encourages students to take part in this competition. The deadline for submission of application forms to the ICRC is 10 October 2005. For details and competition rules, please contact the ICRC Delegation.
