Sitting of the working group on prisoners on 16 September 2005 set up by the state bodies officials and human rights defenders and chaired by the chairman of the Milli Mejlis commission on legislation Ali Huseynov is under question.
They have no the exact information on the date of holding the meeting, a member of the working group, a human rights activist Murad Sadeddinov told Trend. He noted, the “exact information on holding the meeting tomorrow will be at the end of the day”.
According to him, at the scheduled meeting 2 lists (107 and 43 persons) of the prisoners submitted to the Council of Europe are supposed to discuss.
It should be noted, 71 persons were released by this list till now. At the scheduled 4-th meeting solution of the problem of the remaining prisoners is expected.
В"Proposals on amnesty and innumerous applications from the inmates will be discussed at the meeting. As I underlined, there are political prisoners and former officers of the special police forces (OPON members). I personally will propose to consider the issue of the former head of the Gyanja police, the National Hero Rasim Akberov and Bayram Guliyev, brother of the former speaker of the Parliament Rasul Guliyev. Rasim Akberov has health problems and arrest of Guliyev is someone’s order”, he noted.
