The chairman of the Press Council (PC) Aflatun Amashov met on 28 September with the Azerbaijan’s Interior Minister Ramil Usubov, Amashov told Trend.
PC deputy chairman Gulu Maherramli, chairman of the PC committee on settlement relations with state bodies and the head of the monitoring group in the 25 September action Ibragim Mammadli, as well as the aggrieved journalists took part in the meeting.
It should be noted, in the 25 September action a number of journalists confronted the pressure, got body injures, their cameras were broken. They applied to the Interior Minister in regard to the problems created by the law enforcement bodies in performing their professional duties.
The issues concerning the above-mentioned violations of law were discussed at the meeting. The journalists informed the Minister of the action on 25 September. The reasons for some police officers to violate the instructions of the Minister on creating conditions for the journalists to perform their duties were discussed.
The Minister promised to journalists to take relevant measures on these facts.
