$1.3m to be spent computerization of schools

On Friday the Azerbaijani Education Ministry held a signing ceremony of the agreement on implementation of the project on provision of secondary schools with information and communications technologies, Trend reports.

In his remarks, the Azerbaijani Education Minister, Misir Mardanov reported that the project was being implemented within support to the project on provision of secondary schools with information and communications technologies for 2005-2007, approved by the 21 August 2004 presidential decree.

$1,300,000 work will be carried out within the 14-month project. A total of $Р-00,000 will be allocated by the UNDP, the rest part - by the Azerbaijani government. The Ministry plans to purchase computers in the amount of $1m and spend $120,000 on software. The rest fund will be directed to financial expenses.

The agreement was signed by Mardanov and the UNDP resident-coordinator in Baku, Marco Borsotti.
