Results of monitoring of Public TV over Sep publicized

Najaf Najafov Fund analyzed the results of the project on Monitoring of the Public TV over September 2005 and developed a report. The event on the results of the monitoring was held at the International Press Center on Wednesday, Trend reports.

The programs were divided into information, enlightening and entertaining ones, as well as advertising and announcement. The information programs include news, talk-show, debates, analytics, propaganda and announcement. The Public TV dedicated 23.8% of air to information programs in September, while enlightening programs comprised 22.9%, entertaining one - 49.4%.

In accordance with the monitoring, the Public TV allocated more time to the parliamentary election than other channels. The television paid more attention to the government and the forces close to the government, followed by opposition, international organizations, the blocs �Azadlig’ (Freedom) and �Yeni Siyasat’ (New Policy), the Liberal party. 34.3% of the time allocated fro the ruling New Azerbaijan Party consisted of positive information, 63.8% - neutral, 1.9% - negative.

There was no information about �Azadlig’ bloc. 94.2% of information was balanced, 5.8% - negative. 99.7% of positive information concerning the elections was dedicated to the NAP and the forces close to it. Most information about the rest parties and candidates was neutral.

Ismayil Omarov, the Director Genaral of the Public TV, reported that he agreed with analysis and remarks. The same time, Omarov expressed dissatisfaction about some moments. He said that official state events, as well as news irrelevant to the NAP were included in the issue about government.
