Iran to Boost IT Ties with Turkey

Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Reza Taghipour on Tuesday called for promoting cooperation with Turkey in the field of communications and information technology.

Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Reza Taghipour on Tuesday called for promoting cooperation with Turkey in the field of communications and information technology, MOJ News reported.

In a meeting with Turkish co-chairman of the 22nd Iran-Turkey Joint Commission, Jowdat Ilmaz, Taghipour said that Iran has made remarkable progress in the field of telecommunications and information technology.

He said that optical fiber and satellite communications, roaming, data communication networks, search engine and basic software would be the areas of cooperation.

Taghipour said that the issues have earlier been discussed with the Turkish Communications Minister Binali Yildirim, hoping for the private sector to undertake an active role in rendering related services.

Ilmaz said for his part that the two countries have cultural common grounds which would serve to develop economic and technology cooperation.

He acknowledged that the Turkish officials are keen on cooperation with Iran on communications and information technology.
