ADB reconsiders forecast for Uzbek GDP growth

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has reduced its forecast on the growth rate of the Uzbek GDP in 2011 by 8.5 percent.

The ADB predicted economic growth in Uzbekistan last September at 9 percent.

According to the ADB, GDP growth in Uzbekistan will amount to 8.4 percent in 2012.

According to the analysts, the main factors for economic growth are industry and services.

According to the ADB, the inflation rate will hit 8,8 percent in Uzbekistan in 2011. It will reduce to 8.5 percent in 2012. According to the previous forecast, the inflation rate was expected to reach 9.5 percent in Uzbekistan in 2011.

The ADB predicts that export growth in Uzbekistan will reach 14 percent in 2011 and 3.1 percent in 2012. Import growth is expected to hit 11.9 percent in 2011 and 16.3 percent in 2012.

According to official statistics, Uzbekistan's GDP increased by 8.5 percent in 2010 compared to 2009. Industrial production increased by 8.3 percent, agricultural production by 6.8 percent and inflation by 7.3 percent.

Foreign trade turnover increased by 3 percent in 2010 compared to 2009.

Uzbekistan has been a member of the ADB since 1995.
