Azerbaijan prohibited 396 tax debtors to leave the country in 2011
About 70-80 percent of taxpayers in Azerbaijan fulfill their tax obligations in 2011, the head of the organization of work to collect the tax debts of the Ministry of Taxes Ilkin Veliyev in Baku on Thursday at the "Tax System in Azerbaijan: realities and perspectives" forum.
"It is due to ongoing work of the Ministry to educate taxpayers, as well as providing a wide range of electronic services" Veliyev said.
Veliyev said, pre-event awareness has been used to 20-30 percent of taxpayers who do not fulfill their obligations in a timely manner.
"The debt of about 73 percent of these taxpayers do not exceed thousand manat, and as a result of outreach activities number of debtors was reduced by 20 percent during the year due to educational activities," Veliyev said.
According to him, against 396 taxpayers with tax debts to the state budget of Azerbaijan, was prohibited from leaving the country. Some 61 percent of these debtors repaid their debts as a result of these measures.
