Volume of trade turnover between the state members of the OIC is planned to reach 20 per cent of the countries' total trade turnover within the 10 year long development programme of relations between OIC members. This was stated by OIC director general Ekmeleddin İhsanoglu at the OIC Committee conference on trade cooperation.
He said the volume of trade turnover in 2004 amounted to 14 per cent and 18 per cent in 2008.
This is why the set goal of 20 per cent is easy to achieve.
Ihsanoglu called upon members' private sectors to increase their game in development of trade relations.
He also noted that OIC is planning to increase investments in joint projects in the transport, energy and trade field.
