Kazakhstan has almost completed grain harvesting and collected 14 million tons of grain in gross weight, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with the reference to Agriculture Ministry spokesman Eugene Aman.

"Grain harvesting is almost completed in the country. Some 15 million hectares or 99.7 percent of the planted area have been harvested," Aman said at the government meeting on Tuesday.

According to Aman, grain harvest in net weight is expected to hit 12 million tons.

According to Kazakh Grain Union's President Nurlan Tleubayev, Kazakhstan's grain export in 2012-2013 marketing year can reach 7 million tons in grain equivalent.

"We will export 4.5 million tons of wheat and about 1.8 million tons of flour...in general grain export will reach 6.5-7 million tons in grain equivalent," Tleubayev said.

Kazakhstan is among the world's major grain exporters. In 2011 the republic had a record harvest of nearly 27 million tons of grain in net weight. A low harvest in this season resulted from the drought, which occurred in summer in main grain regions.
