Foreign direct investment in Turkey’s economy fall

Foreign direct investment in Turkey fell by 12 percent in January-September compared to the same period in 2011, reaching $1.8 billion, the Central Bank of Turkey said on Monday.

Foreign investment decreased by 34.4 percent in September in comparison with the same period last year, amounting to $494 million.

According to the information, 53 percent of foreign investment in Turkey or $266 million fell to the share of EU countries.

The list of foreign investors in Turkey expanded in September 2012, some 46 new foreign companies and 2 companies with foreign investment were added. Thus, according to the totals of January-September 2012, some 1173 companies with foreign investments were established in Turkey

Thus, as of September, the number of foreign companies and companies with foreign investments in Turkey amounted to 25.400.
