Coverage of intellectual transport governance system to be expanded in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry plans to begin working over the second phase of creating the intellectual transport governance system this year, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry Namiq Hasanov told Trend on Monday.

He added that it is planned to cover Baku settlements and Absheron peninsula within the second phase of the system.

"The operations will be launched to expand the coverage area of the intellectual transport governance system this year, but it is difficult to call the exact date," he said.

The operations are planned to be implemented in three stages. The first stage will cover Baku, the second stage - the whole Absheron peninsula and the third stage - the highways of the country.

The intellectual transport governance system costs more than $ 95 million. It was launched in December, 2011. After completion, the system will be controlled from the centre of Baku.
Around 664 information terminals and 48 information boards placed along the streets of Baku were installed. Around 639 sites will be created for buses and about 140 sites for taxis.
