Trade turnover volume between Azerbaijan and Russia may reach a new record index in 2013, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin said at a meeting of the Caspian-European Integration Business Club (CEIBC) today.
"As of 11 months, trade turnover reached $3.2 billion, which is a record in the history of relations between the two countries," he said. "Trade rose by 23.3 percent compared to the same period of last year. In regards to this year, we expect growth up to $3.3 -3.5 billion. Taking into account growth rates, we expect a new record in 2013."
Today, Azerbaijan shares fourth or fifth place with Uzbekistan on the list of Russia's trading partners among CIS nations.
Dorokhin said that equipment, vehicles, metal products, chemicals and other goods dominate in Russia's exports to Azerbaijan. Around 60 percent of Azerbaijan's export fell to mineral resources, 30 percent - food and agricultural products.
It is possible that Russia may overtake Turkey on the list of biggest exporters to Azerbaijan in the near future, he said.
