Projects to improve Azerbaijan's water supply require investments of up to eight billion manat. This was said to reporters by the head of Azersu (Azerbaijan's national water operator) Gorkmaz Huseynov on Thursday.

"We intend to provide a round the clock water supply by improving the lines of communication which takes time and money. As for stocks we have enough water, but limited communication capabilities. We have already started this work in the framework of current programmes," Huseynov said.

Azerbaijan's water operator is working on the creation and reconstruction of the water supply and sanitation system in the capital, 38 regional centres and more than 350 villages in the country.

"If in 2011, 49 per cent of the country was provided with uninterrupted water supply, in 2012 this figure rose to 62 per cent," Huseynov said.
