In Azerbaijan, the number of entrepreneurs increased to 500,000 people, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Sevinj Hasanova said during a speech at the 4th Congress of Women of Azerbaijan on Friday.
According to her, 15 percent of people engaged in business activities in Azerbaijan are woman.
Hasanova considers it important to educate women entrepreneurs for business development.
Informing participants of the congress that the unemployment rate in Azerbaijan is 5 percent, the deputy minister noted that every second person was poor in Azerbaijan in 1990, but last year the figure was 6 per cent of the total population.
Hasanova noted that the poverty level in Azerbaijan is lower than in other countries, adding that even in some European countries the poverty rate is 15-16 percent.
