In order to improve passenger safety, the management of the Baku Metro plans to install constructions on new lines that will separate the platform from the station or from the railway, a statement posted on the official website of the Baku Metro said.

"The construction will be applied on new lines of the Baku metro," the report said.

According to the report, this will allow for the complete closure of the station. It will separate the platform from the tracks at stations to ensure a high degree of passenger safety, to prevent incidences of passengers falling on the track, to improve the microclimate conditions on the platform, ventilation and conditioned platforms, to minimize the noise generated by trains, eliminate the air pressure in the tunnels.

At present, the length of lines of Baku Metro is 34.6 kilometers. Today, the Baku Metro has two lines. In the future, the number of subway lines will be increased to five, the length will be increased up to 119 kilometers, and the number of stations up to 76.

The Baku Metro has been operating since 1967 and has 23 stations. Previousl,y a 20-year program for the development of the Baku Metro was adopted.
