Tehran and Ankara can raise the volume of their trade exchanges to $30 billion in the near future, Iranian Ambassador to Turkey Ali Reza Bigdeli said, IRNA reported.

Bigdeli made the remark in a meeting with Turkish Customs and Trade Minister Hayati Yazici.

"The objective could be achieved through expansion of mutual cooperation," the Iranian ambassador said.

Bigdeli noted that Iran and Turkey are willing to broaden their ties, reiterating that the two countries are satisfied with the level of the existing customs cooperation.

Yazici, for his part, underlined the need for higher transactions between Iran and Turkey.

"Iran-Turkey trade totaled $22 billion in 2012," the Turkish minister said.

He reaffirmed Ankara's determination to focus its efforts on raising it to $30 billion.
