Transportations within Eurasian transport corridor slightly increase

In the first six months of 2013 some 29 million tons of cargos have been transported by the Eurasian transport corridor through Azerbaijan's territory, which is 3.1 percent more than the same period of the last year, a statement posted on Wednesday on the website of Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee said.

Some 45.7 percent out of the total volume of transported cargos accounted for motor transport, 36.3 percent - rail transport and 18 percent - sea transport.

According to the report, some 138.7 million people were transported in January-June through the corridor, which is 7.3 percent more than in the first half of the last year.

Revenues from transportation of cargos through the corridor amounted to 226.3 million manats, which is 5.9 percent more than the same period of the last year.

In turn, the amount of passenger transportations amounted to 46.5 million manats, which is 14.5 percent more than in January-June of 2012.

The official exchange rate for August 14 is 0.7845 AZN/USD.
