Iran has enough gas reserves and is ready to consider the question of supplying natural gas to Ukraine and Moldova, IRNA quoted Iranian Ambassador to Ukraine and Moldova Akbar Qasemi Aliabadi as saying.

"Both Ukraine and Moldova need natural gas, and Iran is ready to consider future supplies of fuel," the diplomat said.

The ambassador also said that Iran wants to develop economic relations with Moldova, but for this purpose experts should provide an analysis of Moldova's economic potential.

At present, Ukraine imports a major portion of its needed gas from Russia.

The new Iranian administration should focus on exporting natural gas and using this as a card in its regional and international relations, Iran's ex-oil minister Gholamhossein Nozari has said.

The country should seriously plan to boost natural gas exports to its neighboring countries and even to Europe, he added.

"Considering the intensified international sanctions on the country's oil sector, the priority should be placed on the development of the gas industry," he said.

Former oil minister Rostam Qasemi has said that currently the development plans of 20 joint oil and gas fields are underway. "Despite the international sanctions annually over 20 billion dollars were invested in South Pars gas field in the past two years".
