There is a 10-time difference between Iranian families within the lowest and the highest income categories, according to the Mehr News Agency.
Some families with the minimum approved wage of 3,303,000 rials (about $133) for the calendar year 1390 (March 2011-March 2012) expended 2,930,525 rials (about $118) on the average per month, while some other families with the same wage expended 29,560,724 rials (about $1170) per month.
Iran's ministry of labor and social welfare has recently released results of a study about the minimum approved wages during 2002-2012, inflation rates, and total expenses of Iranian families in cities.
The study showed that by 2009 the minimum wages had been increased each year at a rate higher than the inflation rate.
But, between 2009 and 2012, the government changed its policy for curbing the inflation through increasing wages at rates below than the inflation rates.
