Baku port increases cargo trans-shipments from January-September

From January-September 2013, the Baku International Sea Trade Port trans-shipped some 5.15 million tons cargo, which is nine percent more than in the same period of 2012, a source at the port told Trend on Tuesday.

In 2012, the port trans-shipped 6.37 million tons of cargo, against 6.7 million tons in 2011.

According to the interlocutor, some 3.17 million tons of cargos were moved by ferry, 13 percent more than the indicator for the same period of 2012.

Some 3.79 million tons of cargo out of the total volume of cargo trans-shipped in 2012 were transported by ferry, similar to that in 2011.

In January-September, some 980,000 tons of cargo was trans-shipped by the dry-cargo terminal of the port, which is 10 percent more than in January-September 2012.

In 2012, the dry-cargo terminal of the port trans-shipped some 1.17 million tons of cargo, four percent more than in 2011.

According to the source, in January-September, the port processed 2,976 containers, over 33 percent less than in January-September last year.

Last year, the port processed only 8,490 containers against 9,230 containers in 2011.
