Iran’s wheat imports decrease by 62 percent

Iran imported some 1.086 million tons of wheat, valued at $447 millions, during the first six months of the current solar year (which started on March 21), which indicates a decrease of 62.5 and 54.5 percent in terms of volume and value respectively, compared to the same period of the last solar year, the website of the Islamic republic of Iran customs administrations (IRICA) reported.

Iran imported 6.5 million tons of wheat worth $2.5 billions during the last solar year.

Iran also imported 1.25 million tons of livestock feed corn, valued at $505 millions, during the first half of the current solar year, which indicates a fall by 46 percent in terms of volume compared to the presiding year's first half.

Iran imported some $843 millions of livestock feed corn, amounted at 2.3 million tons during the first six months of the last solar year.

Iran's press cake imports stood at 1.11 million tons, worth $755 millions during the first half of the current solar year, which indicates a decrease by 18 and 7 percent in terms of volume and value respectively, compared to the same period of the last solar year.

Iran imported some 1.37 million tons of press cake, valued at $814 million during the first six months of the last solar year.

According to the IRICA`s report, the country's total cereal imports reached 4 million tons in volume and $2.5 billions in value during the first half of the current solar year.
