The permanent secretariat of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) has prepared a draft project on the new technical annex to the main multilateral agreement on the basic principles of operating rail and ferry complexes in the Black and Caspian Seas, a message posted on TRACECA's official website said.

"This project is being coordinated with TRACECA participating countries," the message said.

According to the message, the development of the shortest transport links between the Baltic and the Black Sea on the base of the Viking container-trailer trains (contrailer) on the Ilyichevsk-Klaipeda route and its further extension to the countries of the South Caucasus and Central Asia, are concrete examples of a promising project which in turn envisages an active process of development.

The establishment of international logistics centres in each TRACECA countries is intended to play a positive role in the development of the national economy in terms of decreasing direct and indirect costs of transportation and distribution of goods and last but not least, in the realisation of each country's export capacity, the message said.

TRACECA is the international programme of cooperation in the sphere of transport between the EU and partner countries in Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. The organisation has a permanent secretariat in Baku.

TRACECA member states are Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Iran.
