The sum of insurance premiums paid to Iranian insurance companies increased by 24 percent in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21, the Mehr News Agency reported.
Iranian insurance companies received 76.4 trillion rials (about $3 billion based on the US dollar official exchange rate of 24,800 rials) in the first half of the year compared to the year before.
Privately-owned insurance companies held a 53.7 percent share of the sum.
Moreover, some 39.6 trillion rials was paid as compensation to the insured during the same period.
