Preliminary time for commissioning new air terminal complex in Baku announced

The new air terminal complex at Heydar Aliyev International Airport will be commissioned in spring 2014.

The new air terminal complex at Heydar Aliyev International Airport will be commissioned in spring 2014, a source at Azerbaijani Airlines CJSC told Trend on Jan.17.

At present, the construction of the building itself has been completed and interior work is underway, according to the source.

"The work is being actively carried out. According to preliminary data, the new complex can be commissioned in May, 2014," the source said.

The new airport will serve three million passengers. It will cover 58,000 square metres and the four-storey building of the new terminal will be in the form of a triangle.

Some 18 escalators and 20 passenger elevators will be installed in the new terminal. The latest scientific and technological achievements used in international aviation will be operating there. Passenger services at the new air terminal will be organised at the highest international standards. The use of advanced equipment will create all opportunities for ensuring flight safety. The new complex will be able to receive eight planes simultaneously.

The length of the runway at Heydar Aliyev International Airport will be 4000metres and the width 75 metres.
