The volume of tax debt in Azerbaijan decreased by almost a quarter in the past two years, head of Department of Organisation of Work on the Collection of Tax Debts of the country's Ministry of Taxes Zeynalabdin Mammadzade said in an interview published in the departmental newspaper Vergilər.

The volume of debt of tax payers to the state budget decreased by 23.8 percent as of early 2014 compared to the data at Jan.1, 2012 and by nine percent compared to early 2013, according to the department head. Debts of 227,480 tax payers were fully recovered in 2013.
As of Jan.1, 2014, the share of tax debtors accounted for 3.4 percent of the total number of tax payers.
The ministry revealed offenses by 286 tax payer-debtors against whom financial sanctions and administrative fines to the sum of 78,300 manat were imposed in 2013, according to Mammadzade.
