Minister: Significant drop in illegal entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan

Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb.7

By Emin Aliyev, Abbas Akhundov - Trend:

Illegal entrepreneurship has significantly decreased in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Minister of Taxes Fazil Mammadov said on Feb.7 at a briefing during the third Tax Forum in Baku entitled 'Azerbaijani tax system: Realities and Prospects'.

"If earlier the ministry's department of tax crimes was considering hundreds of related cases, the average number has been reduced to 10 in recent years," the minister said.

"The ministry revealed about 9000 cases of doing business without registration with the tax authorities in 2013, according to Mammadov.

All these cases are related to small entrepreneurs," Mammadov added.

Some 3167 taxpayers carried out activity without registration with the tax authorities in 2013 and 6772 taxpayers carried out their activity without a special permission in the spheres which require such authorisation, according to the ministry.

During operative control measures it was revealed that 5244 taxpayers encouraged 3371 individuals to work without signing an employment contract. About 2423 taxpayers were carrying out passenger transportation without receiving decals.
