Baku prepares commissioning of new air terminal complex

Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC plans to start test mode commissioning of the new terminal building at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in March 2014, a source at the CJSC told Trend on March 7.

Currently it is only the domestic flights area of the new complex where test work will be implemented, according to the source. Here they will test all systems and determine the readiness of the new facility for full commissioning,

Plans are to commission the area of the new building in mid-March. It will be responsible for sending aircraft to local destinations, particularly to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the source said.

The full commissioning of the air terminal complex is scheduled for May 2014.

The new airport will serve three million passengers. Area of the complex is 58,000 square meters. The four-storey building of the new terminal will be in the form of a triangle.

Some 18 escalators and 20 passenger elevators will be installed in the new terminal. The latest scientific and technological achievements used in international aviation will be operating there.

Passenger services at the new air terminal will be organized at the highest international standards. The use of advanced equipment will create all opportunities for ensuring flight safety.

The new complex will be able to receive eight planes simultaneously.
