The 19th international conference on transit-transport potential 'TransEurasia 2014' will be held in Astana on May 22 as part of the seventh Astana Economic Forum, the Kazakh Transport and Communication Ministry reported on March 20.
'Some 300 delegates from more than 20 countries , including representatives of transport agencies in Europe, Asia , CIS and Baltic countries , the heads of the diplomatic corps , representatives of 15 international and financial organisations , 100 foreign transport companies and more than 60 of Kazakhstan's largest companies will attend the conference', according to a statement.
An agreement on the Silk Wind project is expected to be signed among the governments of Kazakhstan, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia during the conference. It aims to launch the 'China - Kazakhstan - Caspian-Caucasus - Turkey-Europe' container train.
Moreover, the 'Transit Kazakhstan - 2014' international exhibition will be held as part of this conference from May 20-22. It will showcase the latest achievements of the Eurasia region's transport industry.
It is planned to hold a session of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission on the 'Black Sea-Caspian Transit' and the second meeting of transport ministers of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries as part of the conference.
The 'TransEurasia' international conference has been a platform for discussing the development of transport infrastructure, the dynamics of the volume of transit traffic in the Eurasian area, as well as demonstrating the modern transport and logistics systems for transit since 1997.
