Turkey’s revenues from tourism increase slightly in Q1

Turkey's revenues from tourism increased by 3.4 percent and made up $4,807, 836, 000
in the first quarter of 2014 compared to the same period last year, the Turkish Statistical Institute reported.

The report noted that some 76.2 percent of the total volume of revenues from tourism in Turkey accounted for income received from foreign tourists, and some 23.8 percent from Turkish citizens living abroad and visiting the country during the reported period.

Some $4, 261, 833, 000 out of total revenues from tourism accounted for individual tourism during the reported period and some $546.3 million for group tourism, the report said.

In general $5, 065,759,000 tourists visited Turkey in the first quarter of 2014, which exceeds the same period last year by 6.1 percent.

Some 81.7 percent of tourists visiting Turkey for the reported period accounted for foreign tourists, 18.3 percent were Turkish citizens who reside abroad and visit Turkey.

The country's income from tourism amounted to $32, 032,424, 000 in 2013, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute.

According to the report, 78.9 percent of the total volume of revenues from tourism fell to the revenues from foreign tourists, 21.1 percent from Turkish citizens living abroad and visiting Turkey.

According to the institute, $24,836,789,000 was gained from private travel and some $7,473,653,000 from group travel.
